Well, since SheiKra and Griffon are both 200+ feet, you could call them Hyper Dive Machines... Just having a vertical drop doesn't make a ride a dive machine. It's that holding brake...that beautiful, beautiful holding break... Hyper-coasters are actually counted only when they`re inversion-less...

And who told you that...the coaster gods?

Ummm...no. Hyper (in the coaster industry) means a height and/or drop of 200 or more feet.
"Hypercoaster:
noun A roller coaster that goes up 200 feet or higher..."
That's from Websters. And where you find your definition?

^ Not really. Hypercoaster is a term used by Cedar Fair only to classify coasters that are between 200-299 feet. So it's not a term used "throughout the coaster industry". If you go on B&M's website, they call that style of coaster, "Megacoasters", and B&M has built a few "Megacoasters" that are shorter than 200 feet, therefore, "megacoaster" doesn't mean that it's over 200 feet, it's just describing that style of coaster.
Nonetheless, this monster is going to be awesome, I definitely have to get to Toronto next year and ride this.

I know this goes pretty much against everything, but in my mind, I think of any coaster without inversions, that have big drops, and are like all the other ones out there, as a hyper coaster. As long as the general style of the coaster is like any Goliath, ML, Riddler's Revenge, etc, then in my mind it's a hyper coaster.

I think of any coaster without inversions... ...Riddler's Revenge, etc, then in my mind it's a hyper coaster. Hmmm..... Read that to yourself. I think of a hyper coaster as a: -tall coaster (above 150 feet) -coaster whose main features are big hills, speed, steep drops, and airtime -steel coaster -coaster that is spread out (most likely an out-and-back) -coaster with no inversions I do not consider Goliath (SFMM) to be a hyper coaster because it does not focus on airtime, it is compact, and it has many helices/twister sections. I also do not consider MF to be a hyper because it does not focus on airtime and seems too drawn out. I do, however, consider Raging Bull to be a hyper, mainly because it has many air hills to go along with its compact and turn-filled layout. Some coasters I consider hypers: Magnum XL200 Mamba Behemoth Goliath (SFoG, Walibi, LaRonde) S:ROS (all of them) Steel Dragon 2000 And that's my take on hypers.

^^Riddler's Revenge is a stand-up with 6 inversions...
Kind of agreed...but kind of not.
Agreed because of the list you gave at the end.
Disagreed because of the coaster qualities: Hyper - 200+ Giga - 300+ Strata - 400+ That's the way I've always heard it. First heard it on a coaster documentary.
I heard a name for the 500+ category too, but I forgot it. That was just a rumor, though.

I think for 500 it was "Tera"....not "Terra", like Mavvie, only one R.

Haha WOW, I actually meant to write Phantom's Revenge!! I seriosuly got them mixed up lmao. Sorry about that. But really, what I was saying was although they are all technically called something else, I think of them all as the same type of coaster.
