^Haha, I love taking macro pictures, it's pretty fun. I downloaded a free thing off the internet, that lets you do HDR's, but you have to pay to get rid of the watermark. I think I am definitely going to buy the non-watermarked version sometime!...Anyway, this is what I created today. Took me about 10 minutes. Basically, what an HDR is (in case you've never heard of it before) is three different exposed images, all put together to make one picture. (Ex. one photo with a correctly exposed sky, one with correctly exposed trees...so on...) Then you can play with the settings, and create something really cool. Second one...this one took me about 10 minutes also.

^ Sorry but I wouldn't pay money for something like that. If you hadn't have said that, I never would've thought, "whoa, that looks like a HD picture!"
Your pictures are already awesomely great.

^Well keep in mind though, that this is just one I created to test out and see what it can do. I'll make better ones, when I find something interesting to take pictures of, and when I gain more experience. This is kind of a whole different style of photography, that takes practice.

I think by these last two posts in this thread, we have proven the point that 'the photographer is the one who makes the picture look good, not the camera' to be correct.
Now while a fancy camera could have made them look pro, you could have totally screwed those pictures up if you didn't compose them right. Especially yours, John, that photo is amazing!

That happened to me at BGA. It was really a nice and sunny day, but it looked so dark because of smoke from a forest fire.

^^The second one, is really nice. I like the first one too, but there is a little bit of motion blur, and the brown..ness in the bottom left corner seems too distracting IMO. Cool pictures though, dude.

Cool pictures though, dude. Thanks the second one was planned to be photographerish (word?) but the first one I just wanted a picture, plus the orange on the Monarch butterfly is actually dots not a solid line like my camera shows.

I got a new camera today!!! It was over $1,700 with everything, but it's going to be well worth the money, and it's just kicking off my road that is just beginning in photography.
A Canon 40D in case you were wondering, with a multi coated UV filter, two 2gig cards, and a wonderful 17-85mm piece of glass!
