www2.paramountparks.com/KingsIsland/news/detail.cfm?item_id=461KINGS ISLAND, Ohio – The State of Ohio’s Department of Agriculture released today its final report detailing the outcome of the extensive Son of Beast inspection. The report reaffirms initial indications that the incident was an unforeseen single event failure. Kings Island will now focus its energies on the appropriate and necessary changes needed to reopen the ride in 2007. In addition to reinforcing the physical structure of the ride, the Park plans to remove the loop. Taking this extra step enables the use of lighter trains, which will reduce the load and lead to a more comfortable ride experience. The Park is making good progress on Son of Beast and is fully committed to reopening the ride in 2007.

I no longer feel a big need to ride SOB now. I hope they make another wooden coaster with a loop. I hope it's not going to be something cool that happened and then faded away...if that made any sense. So pretty much I want to see another wooden coaster with a loop someday soon!

Im going to say waht I said at TPR. This is a GOOD change for SoB. Lighter trains will make the rides smoother, more fun, and overall a better ride. CF is doing the right thing here. Also remember, it still is the tallest and fastest woody!

It amazes me that a CF park is getting rid of a record!
I always wanted to ride SOB no matter how bumpy it is (I can handle an extreme amount of bump-tolerance, if that makes sense), but now I don't see the big deal anymore...now it's just another normal wooden coaster. Sure, it's got the records, but what's different about it now?
Eh, I think the idea sucks...would getting lighter trains and leaving the loop in have worked? Or would the trains not have enough momentum to get around the loop? Just wonderin'...

I'm guessing that the thing about the momentum is the reason. From what I hear, the loop was the only smooth part of the ride.

Sorry, but I find this to be hilarious. To me, it's like removing the top hat from Top Thrill Dragster.

Yeah, but it's not a complete loss...It still has the record for the tallest and fastest.

Yeah, but that was the only thing appealing to me about the ride...in my opinion it's just another woodie now! Imagine them shortening Dragster's top hat (of course, installing brakes.) Now, the ride is still the 2nd fastest, but it's no longer the tallest. Do you think it's as cool of a ride anymore?
I dunno, that's just my view on it.

^I know, I was just trying to say "take away one record and leave the other, is it still as well-known?"
Does that make sense?

Just a few quotes from things I have said on the subject matter from a few threads at TPR.
